A day-long convention on human resources (HR) in corporates held here today highlighted the changing role of HR practitioners in a changing scenario.
The convention, titled 'Changing role of HR in disruptive business world', was organized by the Faculty of Social Work of the Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU), Baroda, and was attended by several senior corporate figures.
"When disruptive forces are on to change the rules of the business world, the role of HR is going to be supreme, significant and decisive," Dhanraj Nathwani, Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), who was the chief guest in the event, said.

The role of HR professionals is to strike a balance with people's needs in the business environment in which they operate, he said.
"The four disruptive forces that will change the rules of the game include - the shifting focus of economic activity and dynamism to emerging markets like China, the acceleration in the scope, scale and economic impact of technology, changing demographics across the world, and the degree to which the world is much more connected through trade and movements in capital, people, information," he added.
He asserted that Asia is becoming the world's largest trading region.
"In the complex, competitive and globalized business world, money, machine, market, system, patent, technology, etc can be made available to you as well as to your competitor, but you need to have your human resources," Parimal Vyas, Acting Vice Chancellor of MSU, said.
Nathwani presented awards to few business leaders for their outstanding services in the fields of HR and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
