Businessman among 2 arrested with Rs 7 lakh fake currency

Two persons, including a Kashmiri businessman, were arrested and fake currency worth Rs 7 lakh was seized from them in Jammu, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Anantnag-based businessman Rouf Ahmed Lachoo yesterday when he got off a train at the Jammu railway, SSP Atul Goel told reporters here.

During interrogation, Rouf revealed that his accomplice Tanveer Ahmed Ganie had de-boarded the train at Jalander Cantt to visit Amritsar for a medical check-up, he said, adding Ganie was arrested today from Jammu's Narwal area.

Further investigation is going on to establish the source and destination of the fake currency, he added.
