Businessman dies during police custody, SHO suspended

A station officer was suspended today after a businessman died allegedly during police custody.

Mohammad Ibrahim (49) had been detained last evening in connection with a property dispute case. His family, who staged a protest outside a police station here, have claimed that he was manhandled and died during custody, police said.

On the complaint of the victim's family, Superintendent of Police Sonia Singh said SHO Srinath has been suspended and a case has been registered.
