A businessman here has been arrested for allegedly abducting and assaulting a French woman in the city, polcie said today.
The 28-year old woman lodged an FIR yesterday against the accused identified as Aditya Agrawal for assaulting and kidnapping her on the night of December 30, they said.
"Both of them were going somewhere in a car and Aditya began driving rash.
"The victim asked him to halt the vehicle, When she stepped out of it, he suddenly pulled her in and assaulted her," police added.
The accused was arrested last night and produced in a local court that remanded him to judicial custody, investigating officer Hari Singh said.
An FIR under sections 279 (rash driving), 323 (voluntarily causes hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 365 (Kidnapping) of IPC has been registered with Jyoti Nagar police station.
