Businessman held for kidnapping sister-in-law

A textile businessman has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping his sister-in-law and also for causing injury to a policeman at Kujiliamparai in Dindigul district.

According to police, the businessman, Ramalingam (37), offered a lift to his sister-in-law and her woman colleague to drop them at the Karur bus stand late last night. He, however, didn't stop the car at the designated spot and drove on and told the woman that he was going to marry her.

Meanwhile, the woman called the police from her mobile and alerted them about Ramalingam's designs.

He crashed into a barricade put up by the police at Gujiliyamparai while trying to flee, thereby injuring a policeman seriously.
 

Subsequently, police personnel gave a hot chase and managed to stop the businessman at Velliayani in Kujiliamparai station limits and arrested him.

Also, cases were registered against him for causing injury to a policeman and kidnapping a girl and her colleague.

The women were handedover to the Karur police.
