Businessman shot at by bike-borne miscreants

A 38-year-old businessman was allegedly shot at by two motorcycle borne persons in an attempt to rob him at Vaishali Nagar area here, police said today.

The incident occurred last night when Chandraprakash Vijayvergiya was returning home from his tobacco shop. He was intercepted by two miscreants at gun point with an intention to loot his bag containing money worth Rs 2.5 lakh, they said.

When Vijayvergiya shouted for help, the culprits shot at him and fled the spot, police said, adding that the victim received bullet injuries on his shoulder.

He was rushed to a local hospital where his condition is stated to be stable, they said.
 

A case has been lodged against unidentified persons and alert has been sounded in the area to nab the culprits, they added.
