Ejaz Ahmed (45), a smalltime businessman, was shot at around 7 pm when he was out jogging near Millat Garden. He sustained a bullet injury in the right side of the chest.
There were no eye-witnesses, police said.
He was rushed to a local hospital after he was found lying in a pool of blood, they said, adding that he was declared dead on arrival.
Oshiwara police have registered a case of murder against unidentified persons.
