The businessman community of Uttar Pradesh played a crucial role in Samajwadi Party's victory in 2012 Assembly polls by reposing faith in party's policies, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said today.

"At the time of struggle, when a majority of people had been unwilling to speak out against that BSP) government, traders created an atmosphere in favour of SP," Akhilesh said while addressing a function here.

When the SP workers were garnering support from the masses through rallies and marches, the trader community was also mustering support for the party.

Akhilesh said this was one of the key factors which ensured SP's victory in the state.

The CM noted that growth of trade and industries is important for all-round development of the state's economy.

Akhilesh assured there will be no harassment of traders at any level and he will make sure there complaints are disposed of promptly.

The government will look into their various demands and all the "false cases" against them will be withdrawn.
