Businessmen robbed of Rs 54 lakh, entire amount recovered

Police, however, recovered the entire booty within a few hours of the crime and arrested two of them, SP (Rohtak) Vivek Sharma told reporters here.

Four armed persons looted Rs 54 lakh from Devinder and Sat Prakash, the two Jind-based businessmen, near Lakhan Majra village during the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday, he said.

The two, engaged in poultry business, were going to Jind in their car after collecting payments from various parties in Delhi when the looting incident happened.

The four persons in a car overtook their vehicle and looted the cash at gunpoint, the SP said.

They also smashed window panes of the car and hit the two businessmen with iron rods before taking away the two bags containing the cash, he said.

 

Police immediately swung into action, launched a search operation and sealed the border, the SP said.

Ved Prakash and Jaideep, two of the four, were arrested and the entire looted amount was recovered from the house one of them, the police officer said.

Prakash worked as a driver with one of the businessmen, the SP said.
