Press Trust of India Hyderabad
Election Commission has announced that the by-election to Allagadda Assembly constituency in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh will be held on November 8.

The bypoll has been necessitated as YSR Congress candidate B Sobha Nagireddy, who died on April 24 in a road accident, posthumously won the Assembly polls from Allagadda held on May 7.

EC had then said the polls could not be countermanded because the YSR Congress was not a recognised party. Also, her name had already been set in the Electronic Voting Machines and could not be removed despite her death.

However, bypoll could not be conducted to fill the vacancy as the matter went to court. The High Court has now directed that the EC may hold the election, a release from the office of Chief Electoral Officer said.

According to the EC schedule, notification would be issued on October 14. Polling would take place on November 8 and counting of votes on November 12.
