To improve the banking facilities in the Naxal-affected areas, 150 branches of nationalised banks will be opened in eight insurgency-hit districts of Chhattisgarh.
"State level Bankers' Committee has given its nod to open 150 branches of nationalised banks in the remote areas of seven districts of Maoist-hit Bastar division and another Naxal-affected Rajnandgaon district during a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand yesterday," a government spokesperson said today.
The Bastar division comprises seven districts namely Bastar, Kanker, Kondagaon, Bijapur, Narayanpur, Dantewada and Sukma.

Of the 150 branches, 54 will be established by 19 banks in the current financial year. Besides, five ATM booths will also be set up during the same period in these areas, he added.
The facility will help to ensure people with the benefits of Centre's schemes like Pradhanmantri Jan Dhan Yojna, Pradhanmantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojna, Pradhanmantri Mudra Yojna and others, he added.
