At least 179 HIV infected women have given birth to healthy babies in government-run hospitals of Chhattisgarh this year, a state health official said.
The state health department's efforts with its multi- medicine treatment process to secure child in the womb of HIV- positive mothers have yielded better results, a department official said.
Around 181 HIV positive pregnant women were provided treatment under the multi-medicine process.

The Chhattisgarh State AIDS Control Society (CGSACS) has set upas many as 10 ART (anti-retroviral therapy) centres across the state, including Raipur, where 21 medicines are being provided to around 7,876 HIV infected people, including pregnant women, he said.
Besides, safety clinics have been established in district hospitals of all 27 districts and three medical colleges - Raipur, Jagdalpur and Bilaspur - for the treatment of sexual diseases while four PPCT (Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission of HIV/ AIDS) centres for regular examination of HIV positive pregnant women have also been set up, he said.
