The Chhattisgarh health department aims to create a world record of screening largest number of people for diabetes and blood pressure in a day, officials said.

These ailments are becoming common among people due to irregular eating habits and unhealthy lifestyle, state's health director Ranu Sahu said today.

The department is all set to conduct the screening of at least five lakh people for blood sugar and blood pressure across the state on November 14 - the WorldDiabetes Day, she said.

Representatives of the 'Golden Book of World Records' would be present on the occasion to witness the programme, she said.

According to Sahu, preparations are underway to conduct screening in all six medical colleges, 26 district hospitals, 169 community health centres, 785 primary health centres, 5,186 sub-health centres and 400 urban health centres.

Doctors and paramedic personnel will be deputed district-wise for the screening which will be held from 10 am to 4 pm, she said.
