The Budget session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly will commence tomorrow with Governor Balramji Das Tandons inaugural address.
The state Budget for the fiscal 2018-19 would be presented on February 10 by Chief Minister Raman Singh who also holds Finance portfolio.
The 15th Session (Budget Session) of the Fourth Chhattisgarh Assembly will commence fromFebruary 5 and culminate onFebruary 28during which it will have 17 sittings, Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal said while addressing media persons here today.
The state budget for the financial year 2018-19 will be tabled in the House on February 10, he added.
As many as 2,670 questions, including 1,352 starred and 1,318 un-starred questions, were received apart from 66 notices for call attention motion till date, he said.
Notices for eight non-government resolutions and two notices for discussions under Rule 139 had been received so far, he said.
The Assembly secretariat has received information about tabling of three Bills including one Amendment Bill, the Speaker said.
These Bills are the Asian Academy of Film and Television University of Media and Arts Bill, 2018, the Chhattisgarh State Higher Education Council Bill, 2018 and the Chhattisgarh Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2018, he added.
The budget session is expected to be stormy as the opposition Congress has decided to corner the ruling BJP onseveral issues including the Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill 2017 and farmers' demands.
However, the state government had already announced to withdraw the Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill, 2017, passed during the Winter Session in December last year, after facing stiff opposition from all quarters.
Following strong opposition from Congress, the state government had announced that it will withdraw the Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill 2017, state Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel told PTI, alleging that the move was aimed at snatching land from tribals.
"We will raise this issue in House and see what steps the government will take to withdraw this amendment bill," he said.
Besides, the party would also target the ruling BJP in the House over alleged deteriorating law and order situation in Bastar, farmers' suicides, relief to drought affected cultivators, alleged failure of the government to fulfill its promises made to farmers as well as demands of panchayat teachers for their merger in the regular cadre of the education department, Baghel said.
