Unidentified burglars stole around Rs 2 lakh cash and jewelleries weighing 993 grams from a branch of State Bank of India (SBI) in Chhattisgarh's Raipur district, police said today.
The burglars broke into the Mandhar-based branch of SBI located under Vidhansabha police station limits and decamped with cash to the tune of 1.97 lakh and 993 grams jewelleries, Raipur Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Shukla told PTI.
The crime was detected this morning when the bank was opened at10 am after two days holiday on Saturday and Sunday, he said, adding no guard was deputed at the branch.

The burglars entered the bank premises after breaking locks of the shutter and have used gas cutter to cut open the lockers, the police official said.
The burglars stole jewelleries by breaking 13 out of 56 lockers using gas cutter. They have also disconnected the CCTV connection by cutting its wire before committing the crime, he said.
A case has been registered and investigators have collected finger-prints and other evidences from the crime scene, the SP said, adding police teams have been sent to different locations to trace the accused.
