Chhattisgarh government has hiked the compensation for its officers and employees who die or are injured while on duty during the election period.
"The compensation for state officers or employees who die while on poll duty has been doubled from five lakh to ten lakh," an official said here today.
However, if an officer or an employee dies in Naxal violence or similar violent act, a compensation of Rs 20 lakh will be paid to his or her family.

Directive in this regard has already been issued by the General Administration Department, he said.
Also, the compensation amount to be paid to an officer or an employee in case of permanent disability has also been increased from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, he said.
If the officer or employee is permanently disabled due to Naxalite violence or similar act of violence, he will be awarded Rs 10 lakh as compensation. Earlier it was Rs 6 lakh, he added.
