A CRPF man was injured in an encounter with Naxals in Maoist-hit Sukma district of Chhattisgarh today, police said.

The incident took place in the forest of Temelwada village under Chintagufa police station limits when CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), a specialised unit of CRPF, was on an area domination exercise, Additional Superintendent of Police Neeraj Chandrakar told PTI.

When security forces reached Temelwada forests, over 450 kms from state capital Raipur, rebels opened indiscriminate fire, he said, adding the ultras fled as security forces launched a retaliatory attack.

Additional forces were sent to the spot and the injured CRPF man was taken to a local hospital. His condition was stated to be stable.

Yesterday, two Border Security Force personnel and a civilian driver were killed and two other troopers, including a doctor, were injured when Naxals blew up their SUVs near Kerlapal camp in the district. BSF troopers were returning after security deployment for polling in Sukma region.
