C'garh: CSPDCL employee arrested while taking bribe

A junior engineer with Chhattisgarh power department and his associate weretoday arrested by the anti-corruption bureau in Durg district for allegedly accepting a bribeof Rs 1 lakh.

Laxminarayan Banchhor (49), posted in Patan tehsil as junior engineer of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL), and Janardan Upadhyay (45) were caught red-handed while taking bribe from Avinash Dewangan forproviding power connection to Dewangan's fly ash brick factory, an ACB official said.

Dewangan wanted to set up a fly ash factory at Teligundra village and had applied for a power connection.

Banchhor demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh, following which he contacted the ACB which laid a trap and arrested the duo while accepting the money at the factory site.
 

A case under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered against them.
