C'garh govt announces Rs 5 crore aid for Nepal quake victims

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has announced an assistance of Rs five crore to quake-ravaged Nepal for relief and rehabilitation work.

"Chief Minister Raman Singh has announced to release Rs five crore for the relief and rehabilitation of victims of the disaster in Nepal," a state public relation officer said here today.

Besides, all the 91 members of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly will also contribute their one month's salary for the cause, he said.

State Assembly Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal and the Leader of Opposition in the assembly T S Singhdeo have given their consent for the same, he added.

"Thousands of people died and injured in the recent earthquake in Nepal. It is our social and moral responsibility on humanitarian grounds to help the affected families," the official quoted Raman Singh as saying.

Moreover, Singh has also appealed to government and non-government employees associations, industrial associations and social service organisations to come forward to extend help to the earthquake victims.
