C'garh govt to compensate land owners

Chhattisgarh Government has decided to pay half of the market value as compensation to land-owners and farmers whose land was acquired for setting up power transmission lines and grid towers.

"The government has decided to pay compensation to owners whose land (was) acquired for setting up of electricity transmission towers with capacity of 132 KV and above," Revenue Minister Premprakash Pandey said in a statement here today.

He said chief minister Raman Singh has also decided to pay the compensation to farmers and other land-owners keeping in view the "sensitivities" involved in the matter.

"As per the official notification, 50 per cent of the market value of the particular area of land will be given as the compensation to land-owners," according to the statement.
 

Besides, the compensation will also be given for any kind of damage and losses caused to their land during installation of the said infrastructure, it said.

The state government has taken various measures to increase the generation of electricity after the formation of Chhattisgarh, it added.
