With a view to improve the quality of education, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to launch an award scheme for primary and middle schools across the state.

"The year is being observed as 'Quality Education Year' in Chhattisgarh and it has been decided to start award scheme for the primary and middle schools in all the 146 development blocks of the state," School Education Minister Kedar Kashyap said here today.

Under the scheme, one "excellent" student each from primary and middle school from every development block would be selected, thereby a total of 292 schools will be awarded. The award would be given to them on the Independence Day this year and the Republic Day 2015, Kashyap said.

"The evaluation of schools would be done by a third party in the last week of July and December this year and their district-wise grading will be done at the state level," he said.

A committee under the Block Education Officer would be constituted in each block for the selection of schools.

Assistant Commissioner Tribal Development and CEO Janpad Panchayat would be the members of the committee, he said.

The Department has issued a circular in this respect to all the Collectors, CEOs of District Panchayats, District Education Officers and Assistant Commissioners of Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department.
