Chhattisgarh High Court's Chief Justice Ajay Kumar Tripathi has resigned from his post after being appointed as judicial member in the anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal.
Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra has been subsequently appointed as acting chief justice of the high court, a notification of the Union law ministry dated March 22 said.
Tripathi had taken over as chief justice of the Chhattisgarh high court on July 7, 2018.
Acting chief justice Mishra is the senior-most judge of the high court.
As per his profile on the HC website, Mishra, born on August 29, 1964 at Raigarh, enrolled as advocate on September 4, 1987.
He practised at the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur and then at the High Court of Chhattisgarh at Bilaspur. He was designated as a senior advocate by the High Court in January 2005.
Mishra served as additional advocate general of Chhattisgarh from June 26, 2004 to August 31, 2007 and thereafter as state advocate general from September 1, 2007 till his elevation as high court judge on December 10, 2009.
