The Chhattisgarh High Court here today dismissed a petition challenging the state's agriculture minister Brijmohan Agrawal's election from Raipur South Assembly constituency in 2013.
Justice Goutam Bhaduri dismissed the petition filed by Agrawal's rival and Congress leader Kiranmayee Nayak for lack of evidence, said the petitioner's lawyer Satishchandra Verma.
Nayak had lost to Agrawal from Raipur Dakshin (South) in 2013.
She moved the HC in 2014, contending that Agrawal used "corrupt practises" to win. The BJP minister spent more than the permissible limit of Rs 16 lakh on his campaign and provided wrong information to the Election Commission about the expenditure, the petition had alleged.
