A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly making obscene video calls to a married woman and blackmailing her with morphed pictures after befriending her on social media in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, police said Tuesday.
Manoj Minj, an employee of Guru Ghasidas Central University, was arrested on Monday night from Bilaspur, said station house officer JR Chauhan of Kosir police station.
"The victim, a 31-year-old teacher, met the accused through Facebook in June last year. Minj clicked some pictures of her on a train in Bilaspur. He later demanded money for not uploading obscene morphed pictures of hers on social media, and made vulgar video calls from multiple numbers," he said.
"The victim filed a complaint in August last year and the accused was on the run since. He was arrested from Mopka in Bilaspur on Monday. He has been charged under sections of the IPC and Information Technology Act," Chauhan added.
