Mahettar Khunte (50) and his brother Reshamlal (35), were beaten to death with sticks by Fulsai Satnami (50) and five others at Kudri village under Dabhra police station limits yesterday, a local police official said.

There was a long pending dispute between Mahettar and Fulsai, both relatives, over the land in the village, he said.

While villagers were celebrating Holi festival yesterday, an altercation broke out between the two on the street following which their relatives rushed there.

The altercation soon turned into a violent clash and Fulsai's wife Gautami (48), his two sons- Shiv (20) and Lakshmi (25) and two others- Kanhaiya (25) and Chhotu (20) attacked on Mahettar and his brother with sticks leading to their death on the spot, the official said.

When villagers informed, a police team reached there and arrested all the six accused, he said.

A case under section 302 (murder) of IPC has been registered against them, he said adding a probe was on.
