Despite moulded in romance-thriller format, C/O Sir is a paean to all teachers, who take trouble in shaping others lives, including late Rituparno Ghosh, National Award winner director Kaushik Ganguly says.

"At my household my wife is my teacher. Your child could be your true teacher at times. Rituparno Ghosh was my teacher in film craft. So Beyond academics there are teachers who shape up our lives," Kaushik told PTI at a special screening of the film here tonight.

Asked about C/O Sir title, Kaushik, whose much-acclaimed Shabdo got national awards, said "in the multi-layered plot I have gone beyond the realm of conventional stories.

"The protagonist Jayabrata Ray (Saswata Chatterjee) is a teacher, a popular and idealist one. The film revolves round the happenings of his career. So yes, in a way C/O Sir deals with the wonderful chemistry between a teacher and his wards," the 'Laptop' director said.

"I have myself been a teacher for eight years - in five and three year spans at two English medium schools," he said.

Basking in the adulation of the audience, Saswata said "I worked on the expressions. Intuitive reflexes as a visually challenged person as well as the hand movement and mannerism when a teacher faces students, how soft his facial contours become."

"Overwhelmed with the feedback from veteran actors and common people alike for 'Meghe Dhaka Tara' who said Ritwik Ghatak comes alive in many ways. Now waiting to see how I am taken in C/O Sir. An actor is as good as his role, I believe in that," Saswata said.

Directors Anik Dutta and Sandip Ray said both of them liked the thriller format in the film which, however, bore Kaushik's style which introspected into human relationships.

It is a movie belonging to a different genre than Shabdo and the second half could have been faster, Satyajit Ray's favourite actor Barun Chanda said about the film.
