Amidst speculation of a possible alliance between Congress and CPI(M) in the next year's Assembly election in West Bengal, senior Congress leader C P Joshi today said he would inform the party high command of the situation in the poll-bound state.

Joshi who interacted with state Congress leaders said, "I have been sent here by the party high command to assess the situation. I will inform the high command of the situation here."

State Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, "If there is any tie up with CPI(M), AICC will announce it. It will not be announced from Bengal."

Facing a similar question here yesterday, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury had stated, "The question will come in January. We will tell you. Right now we are involved in struggles and party's organisational activities.
