CISF security personnel deployed at the airpot received a complaint from a passenger, identified as Jitender Singh, at 0620 am that his belongings and passport have been stolen from outside Terminal-3 of the IGIA.
The CISF personnel immediately scanned the recorded CCTV footage and the Meru cab driver was identified as one Ruplal, a senior official said.
He was later tracked down and was handed over to the airport police, they said.
When contacted, Meru Cabs CEO Rajesh Puri told PTI that the company has "terminated" the services of the driver after he admitted to stealing the passengers belongings from outside the departure terminal.
"We have a strict policy against such incidents. The driver will now not be employed by us again. The driver, however, had an impeccable record since he was recruited by us in February 2010 after due diligence about his credentials," Puri said.
