A cab driver has been booked for allegedly attempting to molest and kidnap a six-year-old girl here, police said today.
The incident occurred on Friday last when the girl, a LKG student, was walking on the roadside in Golconda area. The cab driver allegedly caught hold of her and tried to pull her inside his car, a senior police official said.
He said passersby, after hearing the girl's cries, immediately came to her rescue.
During investigation, it was revealed the cab driver and the minor girl are neighbours, the official said.
The man has been booked for attempted molestation and kidnap under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, he said, adding further probe was on.
