Based on a complaint made by the West Bengal fire services department two years back in a case related to the Indian Premier League, an arrest warrant was issued against him.
Dey gave himself up before the seventh metropolitan magistrate of Bankshall Court and was given bail.
The Maidan police station, in its chargesheet, showed Dey as absconding in March 2010 when the FIR was lodged.
But Dey's counsel Milan Mukherjee argued that his client was holding regular meetings with top administrative and city police officers at the Writers' Buildings and police headquarters at Lalbazar in March 2010.
