The Delhi government today held its cabinet meeting at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence as the atmosphere at the Delhi Secretariat was "not conducive", Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, while alleging that attempts were being made to derail the work done by its government.
Chief secretary Anshu Prakash, who had alleged that he was assaulted by AAP MLAs at Kejriwal's residence last night, did not attend the meet.
Two major decisions were taken in the meeting which was not attended by Prakash. Instead, Acting Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Parida attended the meeting, an official said.
When asked to comment on the alleged assault on the chief secretary by the AAP MLAs in his presence, Sisodia said the charges were "baseless and ludicrous".
"Ministers and staff, they have been ill-treated. The way they have been today it is clear that attempts being made to derail the work of Delhi government," Sisodia told reporters here.
He was referring to the chaos which unfolded inside the secretariat today as Delhi Environment Minister Imran Hussain was mobbed by over a hundred officials and staff following the allegations.
"Those goons of the BJP...in very protected manner, protests were orchestrated by them...Ministers and their staff were beaten up," Sisodia alleged.
Officials and staff of the Delhi government raised slogans and prevented Hussain from taking the elevator to his 6th floor office at the secretariat this afternoon. Later, police had to escort the minister to his office, sources said.
About the incident, Hussain said, "I don't know whether they were government employees, but I will identify them."
The minister later filed a complaint with the IP Estate Police Station alleging that he was assaulted.
The AAP government also released a video showing Hussain being roughed up and his APA Himanshu Singh being thrashed by a section of the agitating staff.
Hundreds of government officials gathered at the second floor of the Delhi Secretariat, demanding that an FIR be lodged against AAP MLAs who allegedly assaulted the chief secretary.
