With the aim of enabling expansion of manufacturing facility and ensuring quality, the Cabinet today approved the creation of one senior administrative grade (SAG) post of Chief Works Manager (CWM) in the Railways' Mechanical Department of Diesel Component Factory at Dankuni in West Bengal.
The post forms a vital part of Diesel Component Factory at Dankuni on Eastern Railway zone and will strengthen the administrative framework to ensure quality, proper functioning of factory and to achieve the target out-turn.
Chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cabinet gave the green signal to railways for creation of the post and this would cost the public transporter a sum of Rs 1,679,400 per year, the release said.

The Diesel Locomotive Component Factory has been set up for manufacturing 100 high horse power diesel locomotive chasis and also machining of 72 crank case (engine block) per year to bridge the gap between loco production requirement and Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) at Varanasi's own manufacturing and machining capacity.
The factory will run as a sister organization of Varanasi DLW.
