The government today approved the establishment of a unit of the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific at national rural development institute for exchange of best practises with other countries in the areas of rural development.
The Union Cabinet, in its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the signing of an agreement between the Rural Development Ministry and the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP).
As per the agreement a CIRDAP centre will be established at the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), Hyderabad, according to an official statement.

The faculty of the NIRD&PR and the Ministry officials would benefit from exchange visits to the best practises in the member countries of CIRDAP.
While at the same time, this agreement will help CIRDAP in implementing the integrated rural development particularly poverty alleviation programmes in its member countries.
The CIRDAP is a regional Inter - Governmental and autonomous institution which came into existence at the initiative of the countries of Asia Pacific region and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations (UN).
