A proposal to set up Legislative Council in the desert state did come up for consideration before the Union Cabinet today.
But the issue was deferred as apparently some members felt that more discussions were necessary to take a call.
In April this year, the 200-member Rajasthan Legislative Assembly had passed a resolution for setting up a Legislative Council to provide more representation to the people.
If a Legislative Council is formed, it will have 66 members.
State assemblies can pass a resolution under Article 169 of the Constitution to set up an Upper House.
