The Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod to a second revised administrative proposal granting Rs 1,330 crore for the Lakshmanrao Inamdar Lift Irrigation Scheme in Jihe-Kathapur in Satara district.
The scheme has been named after Inamadar, the late RSS worker who is considered to be Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mentor during his early career.
It is expected to help irrigate 27,500 hectares of land in Satara district and spare the farmers expenses of lifting water.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's office, the project will help irrigate 15,800 hectares of land in Man tehsil and over 11,700 hectares in Khatav tesil.
