Cabinet nod to bid for hosting Int'l Geological Congress

The Union Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, approved the proposal of the Ministry of Mines for bidding and hosting the 36th International Geological Congress 2020.

"This will provide a forum for presenting and sharing scientific results across the whole spectrum of geosciences and also encourage international networking of leading geological surveys/ institutions / scientists of the world," an official release said here.

It will be a great opportunity for Indian geoscientists, academicians and researchers to interact with the world`s frontier scientists and also to showcase India's progress and achievement in geosciences in the recent times, it said.
