The Cabinet today approved signing of an agreement between India and Colombia in the field of agriculture and fisheries.

"The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Colombia in the field of agriculture and fisheries," an official statement said.

Under the MoU, a joint-working group (JWG) will be constituted to prepare/finalise the work plan for the next two years.

The MoU will be initially valid for five years and would be automatically extended for a subsequent period of five years unless either party expresses its desire to terminate it.

The co-operation would be in the areas of innovative agricultural practices/approaches, new agricultural mechanisations and successful models of agricultural marketing.

The two countries would also co-operate to develop projects in association with agricultural companies for production of seeds, among others.
