The Union Cabinet today approved a proposal for setting up of the Central Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition at Jagdishpur in Sultanpur district in UP.
The Institute will be constructed on 5 acres of land to be provided by the UP government free of cost. It will have a hostel for 400 students and a 30-room Applied Training Centre for giving hands-on commercial training to students passing out from the institute with a central funding of Rs 47.86 crore.
The proposed IHM will be managed by a Board of Governors comprising 12 members, with the Chairman to be appointed by the Centre.

While the classes are to commence in 2015-16, recruitment of staf will be completed in 2014-15, according to the timeline fixed by the government.
Each year, 120 students will receive BSc degrees in Hospitality and Hotel Administration and 160 diploma/certificate courses. Besides, 300 students will receive short-term skill development training.
Tourism Ministry has established 21 IHMs in different parts of the county for development of adequate human resource for the country's hospitality and tourism industry.
