With phase four of digital addressable system (DAS) round the corner, a group of cable TV operators have got together to launch a new multi-system operator (MSO).

Under the banner of Bengal Broadband and Cable TV Services Private Limited they launched their commercial services from today in Kolkata.

"DTH operators have been capturing the market bypassing us. Our business has suffered after digitisation and therefore to secure our future we are launching our digital services," Managing Director, Bengal Broadband, Mrinal Chatterjee told reporters here.

He said during the digital addressable system (DAS) Phase IV of digitisation in West Bengal more than one crore Set top boxes (STB) in a market size of 10 million are to be installed.

"Within March, we aim to capture a sizable market share. We will primarily cater to Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas, Burdwan, Birbhum, Nadia and Murshidabad markets," he said.

Their services are for both analog and digital cable television distribution services in DAS I, II, III and IV areas of the state.

Chatterjee said many cable TV operators are signing agreements with them.
