The fire broke out this afternoon in main store room of the electricity department gutting several high voltage electricity cables and other electric equipments, they said.
An ember from a 11 KV electric line passing over the store seems to be the reason behind the fire, a Superintending Engineer of the Electricity Department said.
Two fire tenders took nearly two hours to control the blaze.
The store is adjacent to 33 KV sub-station feeding electricity to half of the town here.
