'X-Men: First Class' actor Caleb Landry Jones is in talks to star in Roland Emmerich's gay rights-themed movie 'Stonewall'.

The 24-year-old actor is in line to join Jeremy Irvine in the historical drama, reported Deadline.

The film centres around the riots that were sparked by the raid on the titular Greenwich Village club in 1969.

Irvine will play Danny, a young man who experiences a political awakening thanks to the flash point that ignited the gay rights movement.

Jones will play an eccentric gay street hustler named Orphan Annie who slowly warms to Danny before being drawn into the Stonewall riots.

The actor starred in 'X-Men: First Class' as Banshee and had a recurring role in 'Friday Night Lights'. He will next be seen in 'Queen and Country'.

Jon Robin Baitz has penned the 'Stonewall' script.
