A calf was today rescued by locals from the clutches of some unidentified cattle smugglers in Giri market colony of Loni area here, police said.
Loni Police SHO Gorakh Nath Yadav said some cattle smugglers were trying to load a calf into their SUV when local residents raised an alarm and they fled away the spot by leaving their vehicle on the spot.
Meanwhile, BJP District President Nand Kishore Gurjar along with supporters staged a protest at the gate of Loni police station, demanding the arrest of the smugglers.
A case has been lodged against some unidentified animal traffickers and they will be nabbed soon, said Yadav.
