In a new turn to the long drawn issues at Calicut University, its Vice-Chancellor M Abdul Salam today said he was ready to quit if that would resolve the problems and bring peace in the varsity.
Salam, who met Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and expressed his readiness to demit the office, said a group of people were on agitation path demanding that the Vice-Chancellor should go and were "blocking the functioning of the University."
"I have the right to continue as Vice-Chancellor for ten more months as per the statutory order, but I am only willing to go if that will resolve the problems in the University," Salam told PTI here.
He also said the Chief Minister told him that he would take an appropriate decision after consulting the Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb.
The University Campus witnessed a serious of agitations by students, teachers and employees on various issues including failure to conduct examinations on time, closure of the University Hostel and network problem.
