MACT Presiding Officer Dinesh Bhatt ordered Oriental Insurance Company Limited, with which the offending vehicle was insured, to pay the sum to the victim.
"The insurance company shall pay the compensation of Rs 3,70,026. Compensation amount be deposited within one month from the date of judgement," the presiding officer said.
The tribunal's order came on a complaint by North Delhi resident Sumit Dua who had claimed that his motorcycle was hit by a rashly-driven bus on the morning of March 3 this year near Sarai Rohilla flyover here.
Due to the impact, he f
hospital where he was found to have sustained multiple fractures in hands and skull bone along with injuries in his right ear, he said.
Rajinder Kumar and Urmila Garg, the driver and the owner of the bus respectively told the tribunal that Dua was hit by a DTC bus, which was plying ahead of their bus and that they had been falsely implicated in the case.
The tribunal, however, dismissed their arguments after considering Dua's medical report as per which he had suffered the injuries in the road mishap.
