A call for a day-long bandh in Jammu tomorrow was given today by Panthers Party, which was supported by High Court Bar Association, to protest the killing of cows in Udhampur district and the 'beef party' hosted by Independent MLA Engineer Rashid.

The Panthers Party has "called for a complete one-day Jammu Bandh to protest against the killing of three cows in Udhampur district yesterday. The party will also be protesting against the beef party that was hosted by the Independent MLA Engineer Rashid," its spokesman said.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu has extended its backing for the Bandh call while the chambers of commerce and industries have refused to extend their support.

"We have decided to extend our support to the Jammu bandh call to protest the killing of cows in Udhampur and the beef party hosted by engineer Rashid", a spokesman of the Bar Association Jammu said.

The transporters union in Jammu have so far not taken any decision on extending support.

"We are yet to decide whether to extend support or not," a spokesman of the transporters union said.

Meanwhile, VHP today demanded immediate arrest of Rashid for hosting 'Beef party' but said it will neither support nor oppose the Jammu Bandh.
