The three-week long campaign for the April 12 by-election to Malappuram Lok Sabha constituency ended this evening.

The high voltage campaign saw workers of UDF, LDF and BJP engaged in hectic canvassing.

The UDF is making all out efforts to retain their stronghold through IUML leader and former Minister P K Kunhalikutty while the ruling LDF is trying for an upset win by fielding DYFI district president M B Faizal.

The BJP has fielded N Sreeprakash.

In the 2014 Lok sabha polls, IUML's E Ahamed won the seat by a margin of 1,94,739 votes.

The bypoll was necessitated due to his demise in February this year.
