Schoolgirls across Punjab will be administered a life saving vaccine as part of an ambitious campaign to tackle cervical cancer among women in the state, a senior minister said today.
Punjab's department of health and family welfare will initiate this ambitious campaign, he said. Cervical cancer is the second most common type of cancer afflicting women in the country.
Chairing a meeting of the technical expert group on Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination here today, Health and Family Welfare minister Brahm Mohindra said the state government is committed to providing health care and treatment facilities to those suffering from cancer.
Soon school going girls across the state will be administered a life saving vaccine to prevent cervical cancer, he said in a release here.
