Designer Nishka Lulla says actresses Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone have different personalities therefore drawing comparisons between their Met Gala outfits is unfair.

Priyanka Chopra made a bold statement with her trench coat gown at the annual fundraising event, while Deepika Padukone's white gown was unable to impress the fashion police at the gala.

When asked her to pick between the two, Nishka says both the actresses wore outfits that reflected their personality.

"I loved the trench coat gown of Priyanka. It was bold, it was different. She posed like she was extremely confident and looked different. That is something that really suits her as a person. She is a pop star, actress, so that went with her personality," Nishka told PTI.

"Deepika is very feminine, sophisticated and elegant. The white pattern gown totally reflected that personality. No comparison between both as they wore something which suited their personality," she adds.

Nishka says criticism is a part of the business and one should not feel low about it.

"When you are out there and creating waves in the industry, going international, criticism is part of it. You have to face it because you're out there. People are entitled to their opinions and you've to take it with a pinch of salt. They talk about you because you're known, you've made a statement so criticism is fine."

The designer meanwhile has come on board for Bindass' series "Girl in the City" with an initiative that celebrates 10 real life women entrepreneurs with stories similar to the show's protagonist Meera Sehgal.

Nishka, who will design an exclusive line for the women achievers, believes the girls today are much more aware of their personality and follow style accordingly.

"With the rise of social media, there is an awareness among young girls nowadays. They know their personality which is important. Style is an expression of oneself and they know themselves. So they dress according to their own personality confidently," she says.
