Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird, who arrived here yesterday, said the objective of his India trip was to deepen an already-strong relationship between the two countries.
"Canada remains deeply committed to the negotiations toward the Canada-India comprehensive economic partnership agreement, the administrative arrangements to the Nuclear Cooperation Agreement and the audiovisual co-production agreement.
"This visit signals a strong commitment to completing these important initiatives," he was quoted as saying in an official statement.
India and Canada had in January 2010 signed a civil nuclear cooperation agreement.
Baird will leave for New Delhi tomorrow and will hold talks with his Indian counterpart S M Krishna.
