Finance Minister of British Columbia Province of Canada, De Jong, told this to reporters here after paying obeisance at the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden temple.
De Jong said an office at Chandigarh will bring locals in Punjab closer to Canada and would be helpful in promoting cultural, trade and health ties between the two nations.
The Canadian Minister is here on a humanitarian mission to lead 'Health Walk from Holy City of Amritsar', a rally to spread awareness on diabetes which commenced today.
